Japan to import Taiwan dragon fruit

The Council of Agriculture (COA) in Taiwan said yesterday that 100 tons of Dragon fruit will be exported to Japan.

The China Post reported today that a superheated steam system has been developed by the COA to remove the threat of fruit flies which has halted exports for the last six years.

The export price of the fruit is three to five times that obtained locally. The COA is also promoting amongst others, mangos, lychees, pineapples and papayas.
