China's trade of agricultural product rise 33.1% in Jan-Apr

China saw the total value of imports and exports of agricultural products increase 33.1% year on year to US$35.01 billion in the first four months of this year, according to the statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the period from January to April, the export value of agricultural products rose 21% year on year to US$14.06 billion, and the import value of agricultural products saw a 42.8% year-on-year increase to US$20.95 billion. The trade deficit widened 130% to US$6.89 billion.

In April, the total value of exports and imports of agricultural products increased 25.9% to US$9.51 billion. Export value and import value was US$3.74 billion and US$5.77 billion, up 17.9% and 31.7% year on year, respectively. Trade deficit widened 67.9% to US$2.03 billion.

Crops exports rose 8.6% to 496,000 tons with export value increasing 1.5% to US$280 million. Vegetables exports decreased 0.7% year on year to 2.49 million tons with export value reaching US$2.71 billion.
