Moroccan citrus fruits are going to enter on Chinese market according to the announcement made by the Moroccan Ministry for Agriculture and Fisheries.
Moroccan Minister and its Chinese counterpart signed an agreement governing the phytosanitary conditions for Moroccan producers to export their products on Chinese market.
18 orchards were approved to export their harvests in clementine and Maroc-Late towards China.
The ONSSA (National Service of foodstuffs sanitary safety) which led a program of implementation of procedures, identification of packaging stations and phytosanitary surveillance of orchards saw the outcome of its commitment by answering the Chinese requirements.
Opening of the Chinese market is an opportunity for the Moroccan farming sector. The trades between the two countries are still low and concern only very few products as strawberries and aromatic plants. This agreement on citrus fruits could have a positive effect for all other Moroccan exports towards China.
