Guadeloupean banana is back

Bananas export from Guadeloupe towards France and European Union start again after 3 months of stop.

Further to the eruption of "Volcan de la Soufrière", the ash which had escaped from it had made unfit for consumption bananas so stopping all exports.

About 200 000 tons of bananas were not able to be marketed and were sold on the spot with breeders and locals.

Return to export, which was planned initially for the end of June, was earlier made. The harvests started again after 11 weeks of interruption and the first containers of bananas arrived in France.
